ICEYE Closes Billion-Dollar Funding Round and Emerges as a European Space Industry Heavyweight

On June 9, the Finnish space company ICEYE announced the completion of a funding round totaling more than 1 billion euros. The company is now valued at over 10 billion euros. The strong growth is driven by rising global demand from governments for satellite-based reconnaissance and surveillance systems.
The company, co-founded and led by Polish entrepreneur Rafał Modrzewski, has developed into one of the world’s leading providers of space-based geospatial data and reconnaissance infrastructure in recent years. Seven European governments are already using ICEYE’s sovereign satellite systems.
Funding round exceeds 1 billion euros
According to ICEYE, the funding round includes a primary Series F capital raise of 450 million euros, led by U.S. investor General Atlantic.
Together with a secondary placement, the total volume of the Series F funding round exceeded the €1 billion mark.
Expansion of global presence and new technologies
The funds are to be used in particular to expand the company’s international activities and further develop its reconnaissance and analysis capabilities.
ICEYE aims to further strengthen its position as a provider of sovereign space and reconnaissance systems and to provide governments and institutional customers with even more comprehensive data and information services in the future.
“The caliber of the investors participating in ICEYE on this scale reflects a shared conviction: sovereign space intelligence is entering a new era. This funding enables us to deliver new capabilities faster than ever before,” explained co-founder and CEO Rafał Modrzewski.
Strong Revenue and Profit Growth
The funding round follows an extremely successful fiscal year 2025.
According to the company, ICEYE achieved:
- revenue of more than 250 million euros,
- an EBITDA of over 100 million euros,
- as well as an order backlog of more than 1.5 billion euros.
This makes the company one of the most profitable European space and satellite technology providers.
Plans to double satellite production
To meet rising demand, ICEYE plans to significantly expand its production capacity.
Annual satellite production is set to double from the current level of around 50 satellites to 100 satellites by 2028. At the same time, the launch frequency of the satellites is also set to increase.
Polish Armed Forces as a Reference Project
The recent delivery of a fully operational sovereign space and reconnaissance system to the Polish Armed Forces has received particular attention.
According to ICEYE, the project was implemented within just twelve months from contract signing to operational readiness. The company describes this as one of the fastest implementations of its kind worldwide.
The model is now set to be implemented in other European countries as well as in the Middle East and Asia.
